Postgraduate Day, Scholarships and General Information

TASA’04 conference has a Postgraduate Day, two sets of Postgraduate Scholarships and a Postgraduate Lounge.

Postgraduate Committee of TASA’04 Conference

The Postgraduate Committee comprises: Nicky Welch (Convenor - n.welch@pgrad.unimelb.edu.au), Karina Butera (kjbut@deakin.edu.au) and Katie Wright (katie.wright@latrobe.edu.au) . Enquiries are welcome, particularly from first-time conference goers who may be uncertain how TASA conferences are organised or from those who seek further information about postgraduate scholarships.

Postgraduate Day, 8 Wednesday: 9am - 3:30pm | Cost: $35
The registration fee includes morning tea and lunch, and the program; which will be emailed to delegates who register for Postgraduate Day by 1 December 2004. For a preliminary version of the program [click here].

Postgraduate Lounge
The Postgraduate Lounge will be located in Carinya Lodge on LTU Beechworth campus and provides an informal way for postgraduates to meet one another. The TASA’04 Conference will provide tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits.

Postgraduate Scholarships: - All applications have closed
There are two postgraduate scholarships in 2004:

Conference delegates wishing to apply for either or both Postgraduate Scholarships must use the single application form (pdf) above. Scholarships will be awarded on the academic merit of papers; financial hardship, including travel within Australia and New Zealand but outside Victoria, NSW and ACT may be taken into account. Applications will be judged by a Panel appointed by TASA.

About the TASA/AASR Postgraduate Conference Scholarship Fund
The TASA/AASR Postgraduate Conference Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 with funds donated by the former Australian Association of Social Research (AASR). The scholarships aim to support postgraduate participation at TASA annual conferences. TASA members contribute to this fund via the annual membership form. The TASA Executive would like to encourage postgraduate members to apply and also academic supervisors to encourage their students to apply for the 2004 conference. Up to five scholarships may be awarded.
