Travel by plane and train
Delegates need to make their own plane and train bookings. You are asked to contact the Conference Convenor if you change your travel plans (k.richmond@latrobe.edu.au).
Taxi from Albury airport to LTU Beechworth
If a conference delegate has a preferred flight that is not to be met by the conference bus, taxis are available at the delegate’s own cost. Local taxi companies quote a price of around $80 from Albury Airport to the LTU Beechworth Convention Centre. Delegates arriving together may wish to share taxi costs. Phone Albury 02-6025 2255 or Wodonga 02-6024 3444 for taxis.
Bus transfers from Wangaratta station & return
For train arrivals, delegates should book a V line bus transfer from Wangaratta to Beechworth with their train ticket. Taxis cost about $80 for the same journey.
Bus transfers from Albury airport & return
A number of plane arrivals will be met by the conference bus. Bus transfer fee is $25 per person per trip. Delegates and family members will be provided with bus transport (as listed below) to LTU Beechworth Campus (to the Convention Centre and then on to their campus or Beechworth motel accommodation) if they register by 15 November 2004. It may not be possible to cater for bus transfers for delegates registering after that date. In some circumstances bus transport may be cancelled and monies refunded. You will be contacted by email by 1 December 2004 in that eventuality. Conference delegates are encouraged to arrive at the conference by Wednesday evening at the latest. Few planes will be met by the conference bus after that time. Departure bus transfers are available on Saturday. Conference delegates not traveling by plane but wishing to avail themselves of the conference bus departing from Albury airport at the designated times are welcome to do so (though bus transfers may be delayed if planes are late). And they may also wish to take the bus to Albury airport on their departure (stopping points can be arranged). Buses will be clearly marked ‘TASA’04 Conference’. In case of difficulties on arrival, the phone number of the Beechworth Bus Company which will be ferrying conference delegates is 03-5728 2182.

Plane travel
REX Airlines has been appointed the official airline for the conference. A special 35 % discounted airfare has been negotiated for delegates and partners travelling to Albury. Call REX Airlines on 13 17 13 and quote ‘STAR PROFILE REX TASA’ in order to take advantage of this offer. Conditions apply: this 35% discount is off the full Economy Class Airfare on all REX flights (flights are subject to availability at the time of booking). These fares are fully flexible and fully refundable except that ‘no shows’ on flights will incur a 100% cancellation fee. These special fares are available one week either side of the Conference dates (8-11 December) to enable delegates to attend pre- and post-conference events. However delegates may prefer to use other discounted airfares published on the REX website at http://www.regionalexpress.com.au/ . Web fares are also subject to rules and restrictions. REX has agreed that in the event that flights to Albury are filled to capacity, it is possible that additional aircraft can be provided. This will be monitored closer to the time. REX has agreed to make the necessary links between Virgin Blue and REX flights. So bookings for Virgin Blue flights to Sydney and Melbourne to connect with REX flights to Albury can be made at the same time also on the same phone number, 13 17 13. The special conference discount fare is applicable to REX flights only. Virgin Blue and Qantas fares will be the best fare of the day. Qantas has planes flying to Albury from Sydney but not from Melbourne.
Below are the flights which will be serviced by conference bus transport to the conference. It is recommended that delegates book early on these flights. When delegates are registering for the conference online, they are asked to enter a transfer code (eg AM01) to enable co-ordination of the bus transfers. [The conference travel code is as follows: A=air, T=train, M=Melbourne, S= Sydney]. Where planes arrive and depart close together these transfers will be combined. Bus transfers may be delayed in planes are late.

Train travel
Two train companies service North Eastern Victoria from Melbourne and Sydney. The Victoria service is called ‘V line’ see http://www.vline.com.au and the NSW service is called ‘Countrylink’ - see http://www.countrylink.info/. Of these two train services, Countrylink is recommended for conference delegates as the cheapest way to get to the conference because Countrylink has substantial 14 day advance purchase discounts of 50% off the standard fare. These discounts amount to about $50 each way from Sydney and $22 each way from Melbourne.
Train arrivals at Wangaratta Station will be met by a V line bus (if delegates pre-pay for this with their train ticket). This bus will transport delegates to the Beechworth bus depot, and the conference bus will meet them there. See http://www.vline.com.au/timetables/northeast/vline_mlb_bright.htm
