Location
The TASA’05 conference is being held at the University of Tasmania (UTAS) Sandy Bay campus. The Sandy Bay campus is approx. 3km from the centre of Hobart , the state’s capital city, and a twenty-minute drive from the airport. A range of accommodation types will be offered, including on-campus student accommodation at reasonable rates. A conference bus will ferry delegates between the campus, motels and local B&Bs from Sunday 4 through to Thursday 8 December.
Child Care
The University of Tasmania , Community Child Care Centre is open to all children from 6 weeks to school age and offers quality, flexible child care to suit your needs at competitive and affordable rates.

Disability Needs

Food Needs
The conference caterer is well-equipped to provide both a range of vegetarian food and special meals for those who are on special diets. Please record your special food needs on the On Line Registration Form.

Banking
The Commonwealth Bank has a branch in the Union Building , open during norma l banking hours. There is also an ATM located in the Union Building that accepts most cards. The Contact Centre is also an ANZ agent for deposits only. Phone (03) 6226 2495.
On-campus accommodation
Ample on-campus self-contained accommodation is available at Chris t College .
Special room rates have been negotiated with several Hobart accommodation properties and are only available by booking through Conference Design – check the Accomodation section of this site for details.
Lunch, Morning and Afternoon Tea
Lunches, morning and afternoon teas on Tuesday 6, Wednesday 7, and Thursday 8 December are included in the cost of registration.
Meals (outside conference catering)
Located in the heart of the Sandy Bay campus, Lazenby's Bistro is licensed and offers bistro style dining at very affordable prices. Lazenby's also has a Smoothie Bar offering healthy drinks and snacks for lunch.
Parking
Ample off-street parking is available at the University of Tasmaina .

Photocopying and high speed laser printing is avand with on line collating and binding.

Registration Desk
The registration desk will be located in the Stanley Burbury Theatre foyer. Registration and welcome drinks will held on Monday 5 December from 5.30 – 7.30pm . The registration desk will be open daily from 8am until the close of sessions.

Conference Handbook
The conference handbook will be available in delegates’ conference bag at Registration. The conference handbook will contain the conference program by day and by section, abstracts and a list of delegates and their organisational affiliations plus a list of restaurants, hotels and cafes in Hobart and surrounding area & other useful information .
Weather
Tasmania has a maritime climate with mild days and cool nights. During December the average maximum daytime temperature is 21ºC and an average nighttime temperature of 10.9ºC so we do suggest you bring clothing that can be layered as well as a warm, waterproof outdoor jacket.
Internet Access
Internet access will be available from the Sociology Computer Lab. This is a PC Lab and consists of 16 Dell Desktop computers. The lab is located in the Faculty of Arts Building, Level 3, Room 320.
