TASA signs up for inclusion in SAGE Social Science
Collections London (24/07/02)

At the XVth ISA World Congress of Sociology held in Brisbane, TASA announced
its intention to include the Journal of Sociology in the SAGE Social Science
Collections due for release in January 2003.

This Web-based service will offer librarians peer-reviewed collections of academic
journals in specific disciplines. There are currently four key disciplines offered
and Current Sociology, International Sociology, and Journal of Sociology will
feature in Sociology: A SAGE Full-Text Collection.

Sociology: A SAGE Full-Text Collection will include 29 journals including Body
& Society, Current Sociology (ISA), International Sociology (ISA), Journal
of Sociology (TASA), Sexualities, Theory, Culture & Society, Social Studies
of Science, American Behavioral Scientist, European Journal of Social Theory,
and Politics & Society.

Not only will subscribers have full-text electronic access to the most current
issue of the journals, they will also have access to the journals’ backfiles,
up to twenty years.

The SAGE Social Science Collections are the result of extensive research with
librarians to determine which disciplines and features would be most appealing
to academic institutions. As a result of the research, all data fields will
be tagged to increase retrievability, as well as to enhance display and printing
capabilities.

Other advantages include unlimited use for a site-wide license, advanced search
options, thesaurus searching, and perpetual rights to the subscribed data.
