Promoting sociology in Australia
Facilitating sociology teaching and research
Enhancing the professional development of TASA members
TASA bestows several prestigious awards, including the Jean Martin Award for best PhD, the Best Paper in the Journal of Sociology Award and the occasional Distinguished Services to Australian Sociology Award. Each year TASA also offers scholarships intended to support postgraduates and those working outside academe to participate at TASA annual conferences. The biennial Stephen Crook Memorial Prize will be open for nominations in 2010 along side the inaugural Raewyn Connell Prize intended to encourage and recognise the work of early career sociologists. This year the Honour Roll for Meritorious Service to The Australian Sociological Association was established and will be open for nominations in 2010. TASA also encourages that sociology departments/schools/faculties establish student awards in the name of TASA. For further details click on the relevant link below.
