Accommodation
Accommodation is available from a range of venues at a range of prices. Delegates may also choose to stay in the city, approximately 7km from the University, in the nearby suburb of Toowong, or in low-cost residential college accommodation on campus.
For the TASA conference, we have set up block booking arrangements with a number of hotels in Brisbane city, Southbank and Toowong, as well as on the UQ campus. Free coaches will be provided to transport delegates to and from these hotels each morning and evening to the St Lucia campus, as well as to and from the conference dinner on Wednesday night. Alternatively, delegates may wish to travel via the Brisbane City Cat which stops directly at UQ, or by an extensive network of city buses. Further details on transport options are provided on the venue page.
Hotel bookings can be made via the online registration system. You may, of course, elect to stay at any one of Brisbane’s many hotels although we cannot arrange bus collection from your hotel, nor guarantee a seat from any of the designated pick up points.
Hotels in the City and Southbank
Delegates wanting to stay close to the shops, bars and restaurants of the city centre can choose from a range of hotels in either Brisbane city or nearby Southbank.
Most city hotels are within walking distance of the main shopping area of Queen Street Mall, as well as the city Botanical Gardens, Central Railway Station, Roma Street bus and train station and – across the river – Southbank Parklands.
Southbank is located on the river across from the city and combines lush parklands, cafes, restaurants, bars and boutiques, along with key hubs of Queensland’s arts and cultural centre.
Hotels in Toowong
Delegates seeking more affordable accommodation and/or wanting to stay closer to UQ can choose from a number of venues in Toowong, located approximately 3km from the university campus.
Toowong has a good range of bars, restaurants and cafes, including The Regatta and the Royal Exchange (RE) both of which are very popular among students.
On-campus Accommodation
On-campus accommodation is provided at Emmanuel College http://www.emmanuel.uq.edu.au/conference-accommodation at a cost of $80 per night for bed and breakfast. Most standard rooms have shared bathroom facilities although a limited number have ensuite. There are also shared suites where two single rooms share a bathroom, and two, four and five-bedroom flats each with its own kitchen and lounge area. These flats are highly sought after but limited in number so we advise you to book early.
