Accessibility Bursary

Applications for TASA 2024 will open on Monday July 22nd and close on Monday August 19th.

About the Bursary

This bursary is an acknowledgement that members with accessibility needs may incur additional costs when attending TASA Conferences. The aim of the bursary is to help defray these additional costs and promote participation by members with accessibility needs in TASA Conferences.

Bursary

  • Registration for the annual conference
  • up to $950 for travel costs.

Eligibility Criteria

Those eligible for consideration for the bursary will meet the following criteria:

  • Self-identification as a member with accessibility needs would incur additional costs to attend TASA 2024
  • First-named author of a Abstract presented at TASA 2024
  • Current financial member of TASA
  • Agree to submit (can opt out) a brief profile of their work/career to be published in Nexus.

Selection Panel

The selection panel will normally consist of the Vice President (conference convenor) and Postgraduate Portfolio Leader.

Selection Criteria

The selection panel will give equal weight to the academic merit of the abstract and the demonstrated need for the bursary. Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received this award.

Application Procedure

  • Nominations must be made on the official nomination form.
  • All applicants need to be TASA members.
  • Abstracts must be submitted by the deadlines set by TASA.
  • Up to five bursaries may be awarded each year.
  • Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application ahead of the presenter registration deadline. This will allow enough time for those nominees who were not successful to register for the conference at the ‘Early Bird’ rate.
  • The decision of the selection panel is final.
  • All TASA awards and prizes are subject to the provisions of the TASA Dispute Resolution Procedures.
  • Successful applicants will have their conference registration paid by the TASA Office in the year the bursary is awarded. For TASA 2024, recipients will also be able to claim up to $950 for travel costs. This funding is not transferable to future conferences (unless the conference is postponed due to force majeure reasons).
