Biography

Dr Zhaoxi Zheng is a sociologist, thanatologist, and award-winning university educator. His work centres around the sociologies of health and illness and death studies, and contributes to scholarship through empirical, methodological, and philosophical innovations. Zhaoxi’s doctoral research—utilising art-based, child-led, and object-oriented methods—explored young children’s everyday encounters with death and dying. His works are written, published, and performed in traditional and creative academic styles.

Zhaoxi is currently a postdoctoral fellow and co-lead at The Care Lab, the School of Social Sciences, University of New South Wales. He is also the co-director at SocioHealthLab, the co-convenor at The Australian Sociological Association Health Thematic Group, and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
