Career Stage Groups
TASA's Executive introduced Career Stage Groups (CSGs) in 2025 (20 years after the first Thematic Groups were launched). The CSGs are designed to facilitate communication and collaboration between TASA members at similar career stages irrespective of the areas they are studying and working in.
Supporting the career journey of TASA members is an important goal of the association. Imagine a sociology student, attending their first TASA event, eager but unsure of their path. They are stepping into a community that will grow with them, offering guidance at every turn. This is where their journey begins, but it won’t end here. For every stage of their career, TASA will be by their side - offering mentorship, knowledge, and a network of peers who understand their unique career stage challenges and celebrate their successes.
As each career stage comes with its own challenges, over time, TASA will build on the current membership benefit offerings adding tailored career stage ones.
The five career stage groups are:
- Student (launched)
- Early Career (launched)
- Mid-Career
- Senior Career
- Retired
TASA members can join a Career Stage Group/s via their membership portal, the same way they join thematic groups. To access information about currently launched CSGs, see the sub menu on the right hand side of this page.
Calling Mid Career, Senior Career and Retired TASA Members
We would love to hear from any Mid Career, Senior Career and Retired TASA Members who are considering taking on the role of a CSG Convenor. Convenors receive support from TASA staff, and the role is designed to be one of mutual engagement with colleagues. You can access the CSG expression of interest form
here. If you have any questions or would like more details, please reach out to Ali, TASA's Membership Director (membership@tasa.org.au) and/or
Sally in TASA Admin (
admin@tasa.org.au).
