Dr Alexandra James is a nationally recognised researcher in the field of sexual health, gender studies, and human-technological interaction. A Research Fellow at the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society (ARCSHS), La Trobe University, she acts as project manager on large scale qualitative and quantitative research projects. In 2022, she was awarded for the Most Distinguished Peer-Reviewed Article Published by an Early Career Researcher by The Australian Sociological Association. In addition to consulting on specialised topics around relationships and sexuality education and policy, Alexandra holds positions on a number of committees, including as the Early Career Researcher Representative on the School of Psychology and Public Health Research and Industry Engagement Committee. She is on the Editorial Advisory Board for Health Sociology Review and has published widely in leading academic publications as well as communicating research findings to non-academic audiences in forums such as The Conversation and Arena Magazine. Prior to joining ARCSHS, Alexandra held positions across university and NGO sectors, including at Australian Council of Learned Academies where she worked on projects commissioned by Australia’s Chief Scientist.
