About Sociology

Prof Tiffany Jones (BCA, BEd-Hons1, PhD) is Director of Research and Innovation in the Macquarie School of Education and sits on the ARC College of Experts. She is a sociologist who researches LGBTIQ+ issues in education, health and social policy. Her projects have been supported by the ARC (DECRA, Linkage), UNESCO, beyondblue, governments and other bodies. New peer-reviewed books include 'Euphorias in Gender, Sex and Sexuality Variations' (2023), 'Including Lgbt Parented Families In Schools' (2022), 'A Student-centred Sociology of Education: Voices of Experience' (2020), 'Improving Services for Transgender and Gender Variant Youth' (2019) and 'Uplifting Gender and Sexuality Education Research' (2019). Prof Jones liaises and constructs technical, policy and data reports with UN bodies, including the recent report 'Bringing it Out in the Open: Monitoring school violence based on sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression in national and international surveys' (UNESCO, 2019). Prof Jones also works with various international and local/ state government and non-government organisations, on policy development around LGBTIQ+ issues.
