Hi everyone

 
You may have seen in TASA communications recently that leadership has launched a new survey and study to document the experiences of sociologists and our current roles in public engagement. They are particularly keen to hear from all types of sociologists, including those working outside academia. Therefore, they've asked me to circulate to you all and invite you to participate. It's not too long and will be super helpful in TASA's advocacy efforts in terms of giving us on a voice for the work and impact we do and make as sociologists in our everyday work

This email is an invitation to participate in our research regardingthe Public Role of Sociology. The purpose of this study is to understand the state of current engagement by sociology graduates and sociologists who work with (or within) universities and the wider public, including private industry, various levels of government, the NGO/charity sector and the media. You are receiving this email because you have a background, orientation, or professional interest with sociology.


To participate in this study, we are asking you to complete an online survey which will take approximately 15-20 minutes of your time. Participation in this research is voluntary and all your information will remain confidential. Your responses in this survey will assist in the development of long-term strategies for sociologists and sociological organisations around the world to expand their public engagement, amongst assisting with many other societal benefits.

We would also really appreciate it if you could share this survey to other sociology professionals and graduates in your networks. After completing the survey, could you please forward this email to anyone you know that meets the following criteria:

1) Is a current member of a professional sociological association (e.g TASA, BSA, ASA, ESA, ISA, etc).

2) Is undertaking or has completed an honours, masters, or PhD degree in sociology.

3) Regularly teaches, researches, or applies sociology in any sector (i.e. university, industry, charity, government, media).

This project has been approved by the executive of The Australian Sociological Association (TASA), and the University of Wollongong Human Research Ethics Committee (Ref 2021/425). You must be over the age of 18 to participate.
