Social Sciences Week Funding
TASA Member Funding Opportunity (up to $1,000 per event)
TASA is offering grants of up to $1,000 exclusively for TASA members to support public-facing events during Social Sciences Week 2026.

This initiative supports member-led activities that promote sociology and engagement with the broader community.
Who can apply?
Applications are open to:
• Current
TASA members only
(individual or collective applications led by a TASA member)
Applications must be led by a current TASA member. Non-members may be involved as collaborators, but are not eligible to apply as lead applicants.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible, applicants must:
• Be a current TASA member at the time of application and event delivery
• Ensure the event is
social science themed and open to the public
(online or in-person)
• Deliver the event during
Social Sciences Week 2026
(12–20 September 2026
• Register the event on the SSW website by 14 August
• Agree to provide a brief post-event report for TASA
For in-person events, applicants must also ensure:
• Appropriate venue insurance is in place
• Basic risk and safety planning is undertaken as part of event preparation
Eligible expenses
Funding may be used for:
• Venue hire and equipment costs
• Speaker or facilitator honoraria
• Travel costs for invited speakers
• Event materials and consumables
• Catering (excluding alcohol)
Assessment process
Applications will be assessed by TASA Executive against:
• Alignment with the aims of Social Sciences Week
• Feasibility and clarity of the proposed activity
• Contribution to public engagement with sociology
• Where demand exceeds available funds, consideration may also be given to:
• geographic spread of activities
• diversity of event types and audiences
Funding conditions
• Total funding pool:
$5,000
• Funding is competitive and may be distributed across multiple applications
• Successful applicants must provide a tax invoice prior to payment
• Funding must be used for the approved activity only
• Recipients will be asked to provide a short post-event reflection for TASA communications
Closing date
Applications must be submitted by:
19 June 2026
Due to the need for a timely assessment and notification process, late applications will not be able to be considered.
